Odessa is a thriving seaport with a rich history as an industrial, educational and touristic center. In the city stands a monument to the great Russian poet Pushkin who was exiled here from 1820 to 1824. Also of interest are Prince Voronstov’s palace, the Uspensky Cathedral, the Potemkin Steps and the opera house where Caruso and Chaliapin sang.
